Reviews of our Umbrella Clothesline: 2020

So excited when it arrived. Checked the directions. Immediately called my son, an engineer, and his very handy wife. Took them 1 1/4 hrs to install, including digging a 30" hole. Not exactly "easy" as advertised. However, I am very impressed with the quality of your product. If only I hadn't waited until I am 81 to buy a clothesline that will last "decades". Now I will have to live at least 20 more years to get full value. Was really happy it was made in IA. I was too, Cedar Rapids, to be exact. Can't beat IA workmanship.

I could not be happier. I hang up clothes all year. This rack is made of the highest quality, easy to assemble and use. I had to call the company to ask a question, not only did I get a live person, but he answered all my questions and followed up with me the next day. This call was due to me mistakenly ordered only the rack and not the cover. My son put the rack up for me and was so impress with the ease of assembly and quality...he is a hard sell for sure. I have already recommended it to friends and they bought it. Do not hesitate buy it!

We are really happy with the drying rack. It is extremely well made and very sturdy. It holds a lot of items and has held up well to heavier items. We have used a number of cheaper versions and they always break. This is really solid construction. The owner also followed up with me personally to answer questions I had before we purchased the rack. We would highly recommend!

These really are the BEST clotheslines ever. I had the extra large giant size one for several years, but due to a mishap with the raised cap lid on the back of a pickup truck, it got damaged beyond salvage. (I noticed a similar comment from another customer whose clothesline tangled with a tractor, so I'm glad I'm not the only one ---- but be advised, these are BIG clotheslines and you do need to be careful when maneuvering large vehicles anywhere near them not to inadvertently get a line snagged on some protruding part of the equipment.) I opted to replace my original large line with the "average" sized one. Having owned both sizes of the clothesline, I can attest to the quality and usefulness of both models. If you do lots of laundry and have the space to accommodate it, I definitely recommend the extra large one. As I've gotten older and less flexible (and shorter, doggone it anyway), the smaller (average) size is a better choice for me now. Buy this clothesline. You won't regret it. And the super fast free shipping is a nice touch, too.

Product is great! However, I wish there was a closeline that can be used with an umbrella stand. Our yard is clay and rocks, so I wasn't able to dig very far down. The smaller one only holds about two loads of laundry, but I am happy with the product.

I had already ordered a rotary clothesline from another site and found this when shopping for pins. I was hesitant to pay that much, but I hoped the quality would be worth it. I am VERY satisfied with the pins. I live on a windy hilltop and nothing has blown off the line. They are also beautiful pins. I didn't know how many to get-I'm new to line drying-so I got 100. I was introduced to your products through my sister, she gave me her large outdoor umbrella clothesline. She had used it for years, was very happy with it, but no longer needed it. She also let me borrow some of her clothespins that she had bought from you. It took only one use by me to discover why she liked your products so much --- the quality is excellent!! I bought clothespins from your site as well, absolutely best to be found. I had limited space for drying clothes outside but now, thanks to your umbrella clothesline, I have more than enough clothesline space to hang laundry for a family of three! I also bought the durable cover for my umbrella clothesline so I can keep it protected thru the winter months. PROS: I Love my drying rack! It is very sturdy and well built. Even though I recommended this to my neighbor they still bought one of those flimsy metal ones and twice it was crushed in the winds. We get bad winds that rip through our back yards and all my rack does is spin a little! LOL I am VERY HAPPY! Don't let the price scare you because in the long run it is worth it. Owner of one 6 years. CONS: It is a little heavy so I had my son install it because I have a neck injury.

First off, I was amazed that the anchor system was encluded and came inside the same packaging!! I am very happy with this purchase. The design and materials used are high quality, something you expect with American made products. I believe this dryer will last me all my life, I am 67 years old. Going to cut way down on my utilities by using this dryer.

It's nice to buy something that's built to last. I'm confident this rack will last decades -- even if a part wears out it's all repairable with materials you can get from the hardware store or lumberyard. Good name for the website, it is the Best Drying Rack. By the time all the poor quality ones out there get replaced 3 times, you'll still have this one. Also like the tension lever feature to loosen when not in use. Plus can bring it in during the long winter.

I am getting used to using the umbrella clothes line and am liking it quite well. Handling it has taken some getting used to. Now I am looking for a clothes pin apron as my hanging pin bag is fast disintegrating from old age and frequent moving on this new to me design of line. I am less happy with the clothes pins. Some are snagging some of my clothes. They are a little rough on the gripping edge.

I bought the Sunshine Clothesline to replace an umbrella dryer that had lived it's life. I found your website and liked the idea that the product was made in the USA. I thought the higher price was justified not only by that but by the way the umbrella is built. I'm 73 and thoroughly expect this umbrella to outlast me. I did need to call for help with assembly and was pointed in the right direction. The shipping line goofed up and sent my package back & forth creating a small delay. No fault of you folks. I love to hang wash out and do it thru the winter here in NE PA. Thanks for making a quality product.

First, I am a clothes line user. Love the fresh smell on my clothes. I've used lines and the umbrella type clothes lines. My new drying rack is by far the BEST line I have ever used. User friendly. Well built. Strong. I'm 63yrs. old, have done my own laundry since I was 9yrs. old. So I've hung a piece or two on line. I was a little sceptical, until it arrived. Wow. I put it in the ground the next day. Super easy. Your wing method is genius. The rack holds more then you think at first, and being able to spin the rack makes hanging and taking off waaay easy. WE HAVE LIVED HERE FOR OVER FORTY YEARS AND HAVE BEEN USING POSTS AND BEAM DRYING LINE. THEY WERE CONSTANTLY IN THE WAY OF YARD MAINTENANCE AND UNSIGHTLY AS WELL. THE ROTATING ARM DRYING RACK IS VERY CONVENIENT DURING LOADING AND UNLOADING OF LAUNDRY. THE QUALITY OF THE MATERIALS AND THE CRAFTSMANSHIP IS AS GOOD AS I EXPECTED AND HOPED FOR. I love love my new clothesline!! I've been dying for a clothesline for a while (especially because we cloth diaper), but I could never commit to blocking off a section of the yard for it. I love that this takes up so little space, yet holds more laundry than I ever feel like doing at once. And that it's easy to get out of the way for mowing. And that if I change my mind about where I want it, it's not in the ground with concrete, so I'm not stuck with it in one place forever. It's so nice to have something made with high quality materials instead of cheap plastic. It makes me happy to use it! It was quick and easy to set up (my husband dug the hole, so it was extra easy for me, haha). It's easy to fold up after use. Overall, I'm just very happy with this purchase!

Found the company to be very responsive to both my input mistake for shipping address and my setup problem, of not open all the way. The opening and closing will work much easier as we use the system, stretching the ropes and smoothing out friction areas. Installation of the system was very simple. Previous system had to use cement. I would recommend this product for purchase to anyone because of quality, simplicity on installation, and company's support. Cost may be a little high, but the umbrella is well worth it over time.

It may be tempting to buy the big box store cheap dryer from ....you know where,...Don't do it! This dryer is the way to go. Easy to set up (online video recommended), so easy to use, easy to close to help keep lines from stretching out, plenty of room for 2 loads. I love mine. I know it will last so much longer and will save the landfills because it is built to last instead of built to disintegrate. I justified the expense by using my birthday money from my mother-in-law and I'm glad I did.

Overall great product. Very happy with it. I do about 7 -10 loads of laundry every week, and I'm yet to run out of room. I still wish we would have used concrete. The recommended method worked fine, but it didn't account for kids using it as a may pole. Overall I'd recommend this rack!

This clothesline is the only way to go. It takes up very little space. It can handle items as large as king size comforters or sheets. There is more than enough room for weekly wash loads. It came prestrung and installed in ten minutes including digging the hole. It's very stable even in Florida's sandy soil. It is one of the few products on the market today that is appropriately priced for it's value. The construction and materials are first class. I highly recommend it.

I love the large umbrella clothesline. I have been using it almost daily for several months. It is sturdy, made of good quality materials, and is easy to set up. The large size holds a lot of laundry. In my opinion, this product is much better than similar items sold at big box retailers. I also purchased the cover, which is nice to protect the clothesline during storms. The clothesline is also very easy to pop out of the ground for mowing the lawn. It feels very solid, but it is not too heavy for one person to carry. I would definitely recommend this clothesline.

Since redesigning our backyard we no longer had a place to string a conventional clothesline. I was happy to find this drying rack which is made in the US without plastic parts. It was simple to install. I would say easy but I have adobe soil so it's never easy to dig a deep hole. It's great to dry my clothes outside again!

Oh my! I am beyond satisfied with my clothesline. We have had the opportunity to visit Australia twice for extended periods of time where outdoor clotheslines are in every yard. I was jealous of their products because I had never seen anything close to that quality here in the states until I found Best Drying Rack. Great product, very sturdy and well-made. My wife loves the Sunshine clothes dryer and wooden clothespins. The umbrella style clothesline was fairly easy to install, though digging the hole was more work than it should have been, had I done the smart thing and soaked the ground a bit a couple of days before attempting it. As it was, with a little elbow grease (and a post hole digger) I managed to get it firmly planted well enough to withstand the tornado that came through our area last week. While the clothespins are relatively expensive, we both agree they are much better than the cheap ones available at (Stuff)mart! Well worth the money. We liked them so much we ordered another 20 last week!

I had my clothesline up for over 30 years, the wood posts were rotting and leaning like the tower of Pisa! I had looked at your website a year ago, but finally had to take down the old posts because the hooks for the clothes rope were actually coming out because of the rotting wood. We put the new post we bought from your website in one of the holes left by the old posts, and it works perfectly. We are empty nesters and this smaller size is working out well.

We hardly ever use our electric dryer, and the clothesline gave us the perfect alternative to our worn-out clothesline in the backyard. The instructions on the whole were excellent. I had a bit of confusion as to which page referred to an initial set-up, and which was for re-placing / re-routing the line. But I figured it out. Not a big concern. This drying rack is fantastic. We bought the big one and we are loving it. It is well made with sturdy materials that will not fall apart on you. No more messing around with small stand alone racks that tend to blow over. I used the dryer for most of my clothes, but drying outside gives you that natural scent boost as well and less wear and tear and electric usage. Keep up the great work!

We bought the clothesline to replace one that we wore out. We got it online and didn't know what to expect. It turned out that it is just what we need. We have a very small yard in a sort of inner-city location, and we just happened to buy the right size for our yard. It has a rugged construction and we use it frequently to avoid using the dryer when we can. I am casually handy about the house, but I had a little trouble following the assembly directions. Maybe a couple of extra steps in the instructions and a few small detail pictures in the instruction paper. If you haven't had any other comments about this matter, then we can assume it is just me. Otherwise, it went together quite easily, and we used it right away. We love it!

Website did good job describing the clothes pole we bought. I had a question on installation, based on the fact that we would be installing in sandy soil. The gentleman I spoke with suggested altering the install process and it worked perfectly. It is kind of tricky learning to get the pole extended, but once you figure out a way that works for you, it is fairly easy to put up and take down. The reason we chose Best Drying Rack, is that we were looking for a quality product first (which this is) and secondly made is the US. It has been put to use many times in the month or so we have had it and would not hesitate to buy another one should the need arise.

One of my goals in life is to give the electric company as little of my money as possible. To accomplish this I had to find a way to use my electric clothes dryer (a huge energy suck) less often. They shipped quickly the product arrived in a timely fashion. We installed it on our back deck using a umbrella stand to hold it. It was a little to high for my wife so I cut four inches off. Now it's good. This is a great unit.

The Umbrella Closeline Quality is excellent as it is truly built to last. It was delivered in good time and we had one question while setting up so we called the customer service number and a real person answered the phone and knew the product well. We do get winds here in the mountains in the summer and we will be interested to see if the in-ground system holds well. I keep it folded up in its bag when not in use to protect it from the sun and the other elements. I love being able to hang my sheets and blankets outside and I don't have to worry about the clothesline holding it.

It arrived incredibly fast and took less than a half hour to set up. I bought the larger model, with the orange colored arms and it fits an incredible amount of laundry. Easy to use product that also allows me to remove and store it when we need the yard space.

First, I couldn't believe how fast it showed up! Second, it was easy to install....no cement needed... and is awesome quality! I am making every effort to buy MADE IN THE USA products, and this did not disappoint! I need to order the cover, however, to protect from the sun and harsh weather we have in Minnesota.

We love our drying rack! It's much easier to use than the clothesline we previously had. With the new rack you can stand in one place, spin the rack around, and load/unload laundry much faster. BestDryingRack.com was great to work with!

In terms of the shopping experience - standard e-commerce; very well thought out the back-end is handled well. Products arrived in a reasonable timeframe and in good condition. In terms of the product - I *love* the Sunshine clothesline! I've had this since early 2015 and came back to buy a replacement cover. The clothesline, thanks to the cover, is in new condition. I haven't had to fix anything on it, replace the line, tighten a single knot in five years. I just wipe it down periodically. A sturdy product, was relatively easy to install and has been nearly maintenance free since - less taking the whole thing out before winter and putting it back in during spring, a 2 minute, one-man job. The cover is in full sun for most of the summer, so I wasn't surprised when it was sun-bleached enough to tear a bit when I opened it this spring. Love this product, can't say it enough.

We had an umbrella clothesline from a major box store but it was too short and broke apart with the first windstorm. A friend recommended this clothesline as large enough to walk under to hang sheets and very durable. When I saw that it was made in Iowa I knew it had to be good. I ordered it and have used it extensively since then. A great product that also looks good.

While I had to hire a handyman to insert the holder in the ground (being old and having bad joints will do that to you), he did a great job and I have been happily using my small size umbrella dryer. In fact, as we speak I have a load of laundry drying on it in this lovely California spring weather. The quality of construction and the ropes are great, and I would certainly purchase from BestDryingRack again!

I have had the drying rack for almost two years now, and am very satisfied with my purchase. I estimate that using the drying rack has saved me about $10/month in electricity, so I will soon hit the break-even point, after which I will begin to save money. The only disappointment I have (hence four stars instead of five) is that it APPEARS that a little bit of water seems to leak through the cover seam at the top which has allowed one metal piece at the top to rust. We do use the cover every day almost without fail to protect the rack when it is not in use, and for the most part that works well. The unit still looks and functions well after almost two years. Very good purchase; highly recommended.

Great outdoor drying. Easy to install and use. I attach an owl decoy on a pvc pipe to the center pole to keep birds away. Great indoor drying rack. Fits entire load of laundry on a rainy day.

The large umbrella clothes dryer is one of the most useful items I have right now! I like that my basket of laundry can be set on a chair so I can reach items without bending over repeatedly, and just spin the dryer when necessary. It holds a good amount of laundry, and when not in use can be folded up and placed under shelter if there's a storm coming. Happy to have this dryer!

Clothesline is great, but it's too dang tall! I guess it must have been designed to go into a holder below the ground level. Our receptacle is at ground level. I think we'll have to shorten the pole somehow.

We received our drying rack from the deliv Ray company with the parts for the installation as well as the directions missing out of the shipping box.
