Reviews of our Umbrella Clothesline: 2015

I got the umbrella style dryer as a gift, and although I had not seen this design before I do love it! I use it almost daily for drying or airing things out, especially with a pool. Looking forward to using it for a long time!

I ordered the small umbrella clothesline and am very satisfied with the construction and functionality of the product. I've been wanting a sturdy clothesline for years and finally splurged to buy one for myself. This small model will hold about three medium-large loads of laundry for me--primarily towels and sheets. The lines themselves are sturdy poly-type rope; the arms are wood and all the brackets are heavy duty metal. I believe the clothesline will probably outlast me! Best Drying Rack provided fast delivery and the product was just as described. Take note: the directions are poorly written/illustrated. Thankfully a mechanically minded person was available to help me understand assembly of the in-ground socket. Other than that, the clothesline was assembled and up within an hour.

The install of the drying rack was easy. I like the ability to remove if necessary due to HOA restrictions. There is nothing like drying clothes under the sun and saving money and energy. I am happy to have found this product after buying several aluminum ones from a local big box store that tend to not last and require cement for the base.

I love everything about this clothes line! I don't like using the electric clothes dryer, especially for sheets and towels. The large BestDryingRack has plenty of room to hang all the laundry I can do--many loads in one day. It's very sturdy, and the wood is beautiful. The lines are heavy-duty, and strung very tightly. It's easy to use: it expands and collapses with no effort, and I can park the basket of wet laundry in one spot and rotate the empty lines around to me instead of repeatedly picking up the heavy basket to move along the line. The canvas cover is also well-made of high-quality materials, and the clothespins (admittedly quite expensive) are also beautiful and strong.

I am thrilled to be able to dry bed linens on an outside clothesline. They smell so delish when you put fresh clean yard dried percale sheets on ones bed! Nothing like it. Clothesdryers are convenient of course, but nothing compares to hanging certain laundry in the fresh cool breeze. Thank goodness we don't live in a gated community or HOA control freak neighborhood. It is so classy looking with the hunter green wood too. Feels like I'm a kid again back in the 50's when everyone hung their laundry out to dry, kinda' neighborly. This was one of the best experiences I've had in a long time. I have actually made two purchases from here. My first was my wonderful umbrella rotary dryer, which I have been using for several months now and couldn't be happier with. I most recently ordered some of the handmade clothes pins, and will be buying more of those very soon as well -- I've been replacing my cheap ones with those offered here a few at a time. I purchased the smaller umbrella clothes line and once my husband got it installed in the assigned yard location I thought it might be too small. It is just the two of us and it is just the right size. Our washer is a larger capacity and I think it might only hold two - three loads not the four it states. But that's okay. It is very sturdy and well built. I also bought the cover to protect it during bad weather or idle times. I look forward to many years of use.

This is a great drying rack - large volume, easy to reach, can rotate it so I do not have to haul the laundry around. I wish I had looked this product up years ago. Air dried laundry use no electricity, does not heat up the house in the summer, and smells great, just like when my mother used to hang clothes outside. The rack looks pretty durable, but I also ordered a cover from another dealer, which will help protect it during the warm months when not in use. In the cold months, I will take the rack down and store it in a protective tube.

I have been wanting a clothes drying tree for a while but didn't want to purchase one that was flimsy and not made in the U.S. Installation was straightforward; the worst part was digging the hole in my hard clay soil! I use the clothesline several times a week. The main reason I purchased it was to hang my linen sheets in the sun, and I am totally satisfied with my purchase. If I ever have to purchase another one, I will choose the large one, but my medium one is quite satisfactory.

The drying rack is HUGE! Hard to find that much available space in the yard, LOL! I put two loads of laundry on it and it's nothing! It really does hold a lot and if you put some of it on hangers it holds even more! Just wish I could find some heavy duty wooden clothespins to go with it.....

Great service and delivery was quick. Setting up and using the rack was pretty easy. Set aside an hour or so for the work. I would recommend giving customers an option to make the rack several inches higher as fully extended, I have to duck underneath the rope line to hang something on the inner section of the hanger and I'm only 5'9”; so it would be even more difficult for someone taller. Other than that it was a good experience.

The Drying rack is great. Have tried many others and none of them can compare. The lines are spaced far enough away from each other for efficient drying and it is very sturdy. The only thing is, I wish I would have bought the bigger one. The description says how many loads but I guess I underestimated how many clothes are in my oversized washer. As such, I am not able to put as many loads on the line as I had hoped. So if you have an oversized washer please keep this in mind.

We bought the larger clothesline and this is a high quality product that is exactly as advertised. Installation was not difficult; it took us two tries to get everything level and perfectly upright. This clothesline will easily hold 6 large loads of farm laundry; denim, coveralls, etc. that might be too heavy for an ordinary line. I do plan to buy the cover before winter. I'm very frugal and I believe the pricing is very reasonable for this product.

Very nice clothes line. It looks good either extended or closed. If I knew how big it was, not that it takes up a lot of room and it can folded down, I probably would have ordered the smaller model. Assembly was easy although a u-tube video would have been nice. My friend had wanted a clothes line for many years so I got it for her birthday. She loves it.

Really difficult and skimpy instructions. Poor drawings. The directions seemed to have been written by someone who had lots of experience with the product...and therefore couldn't imagine someone just taking out the dryer from the box and trying to figure out what goes where. BDR might spend a little money to have the directions re-written so that they are clear, explicit and assume no prior knowledge of the item.

After searching through a dozen different umbrella clotheslines, some with spindly, weak, arms, some with plastic parts where they should never be, I found a well made, heavy duty, umbrella at Best Drying Rack. SCORE! Shipped FAST, easy to assemble, I had it in the ground, and drying a load of laundry within 24 hours of receiving it. I chose to seat the ground socket with cement but, you don't necessarily have to. For me the BEST aspect of the umbrella is twofold... the nostalgia of drying clothes the way my mom did when I was young and, the incredible, wonderful, smell of clothes dried in the sun and breeze. Drying clothes in the sun also kills any and all bacteria by way of UVA, UVB rays... thank you God :) We got the one with the green arms and in fact, it is big enough to dry at least four loads but, because clothes dry so quickly in the sun/breeze, we take down the first dry load by the time the third wash-load is ready to be hung to dry. Great product. Spins in the breeze, well made, comes with clear concise instructions, saves us $$ not using our electric drier, and brings back memories of my childhood. Get the cover... I didn't but, I will later. Keeps the birds from perching on it and, soiling the unit. Thanks to everyone at Best Drying Rack!

The clothes line we purchased is the best quality I have ever seen - sturdy, well-built, holds a huge amount of laundry, but it's a royal pain in the neck/back/body to set up each time. It might be just too large to be simple. Because it's so challenging, I often find myself throwing laundry in the dryer, which defeats the purpose of a clothes line. But once it's set up, this is one amazing clothes line.

I researched a number of companies and clothesline options. I finally chose bestdryingrack after receiving prompt answers to my questions about the product and ordered the 9 foot size. The pros? (1) I loved the idea of being able to remove the pole when we needed the yard. (2) The product didn't require concrete to install and was fairly easy to do. Our yard has a lot of limestone so any kind of pole required some labor. I had considered a retractable clothesline but after reading comments about sagging lines decided to nix that option. (3) I'm a 66 year old weakling but the 9 foot size is easy for me to raise and lower. (4) I also purchased the cover to keep it clean and the yard tidy. It is easy to use. (5) I appreciated the prompt customer service responses to my questions. (6) And...the product is made in the USA! (Aside note: I wanted a clothesline because I like sun bleaching whites and actually enjoy the "hanging out the laundry" process. Sometimes I throw towels in the dryer a few minutes to fluff them up and then hang them on the line but not always. Bottom line: product is well made and easy to use. I am a very pleased customer!

I would like to say this. The brackets were missing from my shipment when me dying rack arrived. I called the 800 number and a very nice man apologized and said sometimes this happens and he will see to it I get them right away. Two days later they were at my door. I'm very happy with my outdoor clothesline rack (I bought the small size)My last rack was a size in between this company's Sm and Lg rack so I was afraid it might be too small but it's perfect! I don't mind doubling over my King sheets cuz sheets dry so fast anyway. It was a breeze to install and the line was already strung very taut so it holds heavy jeans without sagging. The fold up option was a brilliant idea to protect it from the harsh weather and it's a cinch to maneuver.

I ordered the Best Drying Rack and the small outdoor umbrella clothesline. We love it. It came assembled and the directions for instillation were exactly as stated. It was up and ready to use in about 1/2 hour. We live on 10 acres in rural Illinois. Lots of wind, God's gift for laundry day! I use the drying rack now on our deck. In the winter, I intend to use it in the laundry room and on the deck on good sunny days. We are very pleased and I have recommended it to my neighbors and friends. Everyone notices it and asks where we bought it. American Made was the deceiding factor. The extremely fast delivery was a pleasant surprise. It is more expensive than I expected but you get what you pay for.

The Sunshine Dryer is an expensive clothesline, but it is a very high quality item and also very user friendly. No regrets so far. I had it installed in under an hour and have used it several times. It was a good purchase. Bestdryingrack.com had the best price when I was shopping, so I was a little worried that the service might be sub-par. That turned out not to be an issue at all. The item shipped much faster than promised and was very well packaged. I have no regrets and if I had it to over again, would change nothing. Thanks again for a great experience.

I bought my clothesline from the Best Drying Rack company first and foremost because of the umbrella style and materials, i.e. wood. I have been looking all over the internet (and in my community) for a clothesline that was like the one that my parents had when I grew up and I found that with this company... Right down to the same color - orange! The cost was more than I wanted to spend initially on a clothesline but when I found this particular one that elicited such wonderful childhood memories of going outside and hanging clothes and sheets out of the line with my mom and seeing my dad morw around it and set it up in different locations across the lawn - I just had to have it and probably would have paid any price for it. I love the fact that I can put so many loads of laundry on this one clothesline - the capacity is enormous! The design and materials of this particular clothes line makes it a nice piece in my backyard and not such an eyesore like some of the aluminum ones that I have looked at prior to purchasing this one. I am thankful for your long-standing business and that I was able to purchase this orange wood umbrella clothesline just like the one I remember at my folks' house some 40 years ago!

I bought the smallest drying rack, and it is perfect size. It can easily fit two loads of laundry. I love that I can stand in one stop with my basket of wet laundry and the umbrella easily spins so I don't have to move. It was easy to install and it seems that it will be easy to take down for the winter.

Idid not put the clothes dryer up immediately and only did so yesterday, but it went up easily and as indicated. I am pleased with the sturdiness of the product and that it is not too tall for a short person to use. I did choose to did the hole less than the extra 6” stated in the instructions since the ground does not freeze to that depth here in Oregon. Overall, I am pleased with the clothes dryer and happy to purchase a product made in the U.S.A.

I purchased the small (9') outdoor drying rack from your company after searching all over for one that was not made in China of cheap plastic. It is easy to use and extremely well constructed. I am able to raise/lower it myself and even put it away in our shed without any trouble as are my teen and pre-teen children. We have moved into a neighborhood where a "normal" clothesline would perhaps not be appropriate, so we searched for a reliable umbrella clothesline. I believe we've found it. I am very pleased with the clothesline purchase. It was easy to install using what came with it. I was going to use concrete, but decided to use the wings that attach to the pole. It just survived a 60 mph wind opened up, and it looks unharmed. Most of all, I am pleased with the build. It is very heavy duty with good hardware. And biggest plus of all, saving on the electric bill.

We love our new drying rack! After seeing round drying racks all over New Zealand, my husband was convinced they were the way to go and we needed a change from the long line in the backyard that didn't get enough air flow anyway. Price is right, shipping was fast. Its easy to collapse and I love the orange painted wood. We've already recommended it to friends/family.

Ordering/receiving process was smooth and timely. It set up easily enough, although a brother had to get me started because I couldn't get the hang of "getting started". I like that it doesn't require a concrete base to set the pole; hose butterfly plates certainly do the job of anchoring the entire clothesline. I've used it a few times already and I love it. I'm sure that down the road I'll notice the savings on my electrical bill. And best of all: it's American made! Thank you.

We are eager to finally hang a load of wash today! My (70 year old husband) has been digging the hole for the past several days...our soil is like clay and we haven't had rain lately...uffda. Good thing he works out! Not sure if we used enough small rocks for drainage (used about an inch) maybe you could add the amount next time you publish a new direction sheet...or maybe it doesn't matter. I love how sturdy the rack is compared to the several flimsy ones we've used in the past...Thanks!

I am very happy with my new clothes line. It arrived packaged great with nothing missing. It was easy for my husband to install. It is also easy to take up. We have experienced so much rain and really high winds this spring in TX. We did leave it out and the clothes line has weathered it exceptionally well. Still as new!! My clothesline is HUGE and very sturdy! So glad that I made the choice to stop wasting money on the cheap ones at the box stores every other year and sometimes every year. The quality of this clothesline is amazing. The shipping was fast and really for the size of the thing the shipping was cheap! I loved the handwritten notes on everything - very nice touch! I can see that I am going to get many years out of this clothes line! I also like knowing that if I should ever need replacement parts that that is an option instead of throwing away the clothesline and having to purchase another!

I love my BestDryingRack! It was very easy to put up and it didn't take long. There is one suggestion I could make and that is to make the lines a little longer. I can't get more than one item on the inside lines. Other than that the rope is strong and I don't have to worry about hanging any heavy clothes and the line will sag or break.

Based on experiences with other "umbrella-type" dryers and, due to heavy winds we have been experiencing, I was concerned that this might be another "no-show". Quite the opposite! Even with the lines loaded with large bath towels, queen-sized sheets, blue jeans and sweat-shirts. this wonderful dryer stood up to wind, rain, and a full load with nary a whimper. I wish I had found this years ago.

Fast shipping and easy to remove from packing. Love this drying rack! It's paid for itself already by not having to use our electric dryer. Easy assembly and installation instructions and very sturdy. Will hold 2 large loads easily and the spinning feature lets you stay in one spot with the basket to hang the clothes.

Nice and sturdy ! It holds several large loads of laundry. Whenever I dry comforters on it , it starts to lean and my husbands straightens it back out. It may need concrete to prevent it.

I'd always had straight clotheslines before buying this drying rack. I needed something sturdy that would take several loads of wash at a time. We live in Iowa and it's usually breezy to windy, so it needed to be able to stand up to the wind as well. It was an added bonus that this rack is made in Iowa since we really like buying locally when possible. I purchased the larger rack, but probably could have gotten by with the smaller since there are only two of us. It's very sturdy, but a bit heavy. I would like to be able to pull it out of the ground between uses, but it's just a little too heavy for me. It is a little awkward to put up and down, but I'm getting the hang of it. We also purchased the cover for it. All in all, I'm very pleased with this rack and expect it to last a very long time.

I am sorry I can not say how well/sturdy the product is - reason for 4 stars. We've just recently melted/parted company with "four feet" of snow; the ground is saturated and we're now getting a lot of rain. Thus I haven't been able to install/set up out in the yard yet. :( Peeking into the box though it looks like it'll be awesome once set up and in use. I can't wait to be able to use it! :) I can say this looked so much stronger/sturdier compared to the others I looked at (some were very flimsy) and based on the reviews - you had the most positive reviews on this drying rack vs the others that I looked at. I am mid- to northern-Maine so I hope you understand about my not being able to give a more positive review. I'm sure once all set up it definitely will be a 5-star and not a 4-star purchase. :)

I got this in December and got it put up in January. The only suggestion I could make is to include a cover that could be placed over in during times when not in use. Here in Texas we have fairly mild winters but may go several months without being able to use it. My concern is the rope lines appear to be the weakest link and something protecting them when it's not in use would greatly extend their life. Wife was very pleased with her gift. Looking forward to getting some great use once the weather warms up a bit. Thanks for a quality product.

We purchased the smaller of the two folding clotheslines, the portable drying rack, and the washing system buckets and clothes plunger. I initially hesitated at the price, thinking they were comparable to what was in the popular stores, but I did not need too. The quality of these products is outstanding, much more durable and better made than anything I could find locally. Of course, that would not mean anything if they were not useful. But, we find ourselves using the clothesline every day, and it is so easy to install and use. I am 5' 4” and can easily reach the lines to hang clothes, but the installation can be adjusted to most heights.

Wow. Just like the sturdy, American made of my youth. I looked at the flimsy aluminum models that were cheaper but just knew I would have to buy another one. You cannot beat a lifetime guarantee.
